The War Between the Seeds
Rabbi Jeremy Storch

An overview of the 12 part series given by Rabbi Jeremy Storch.

Based on the book “Enmity Between the Seeds” by Bill Cloud

Our great God knows all things before they even happen!  He tells us in His Word.

In Isaiah 42:8-9 He says:

8 I am the LORD, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images. 9 Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.”

And also in Isaiah 46: 9-10a:

9 Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other;  I am God, and there is none like Me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done…”

There are many wonderful end-time prophecies in the books of the prophets, Nevi’im in Hebrew, themselves but I am convinced that some of the greatest end-time prophecies, ‘hidden manna’ are found in the opening chapters of the Bible itself in the book of Genesis.

In the book of Genesis, chapter 1 verses 11-12, God reveals “the end from the beginning.”

11 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Whatever the seed may be that is what the fruit will be and vice versa. Whatever the fruit is, it is merely a reflection of the seed within. Thus the statement: “whose seed is within itself.”  You’ll never bite into an apple and find a peach pit inside of it, or find a pear with an olive pit, because God established the law that seeds should reproduce according to their own kind. The law is also the basis for Yeshua’s teaching on how to deal with false prophets (teachers).

Matthew 7-“You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruits, nor can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit …Therefore, by their fruits you shall know them.” - Matthew 7:16-18, 20

Whether a good tree or a corrupt tree, it may only reproduce after its kind.  This is how it has been since the beginning!  This is how it will be in the end!

Now we all know that in the beginning there were two trees in the midst of the garden.  The Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (where the war of the seeds begins).  One of them meant life, and the other resulted in death.  These two trees and the fruit that they bore were spawned by their respective seeds and their respective seeds were at enmity with one another, or were in ‘opposition’ to each other.

From the beginning, there has always been a mutual antagonism between the two.  Furthermore, the righteous seed has always produced and continues to produce righteousness, and the wicked seed continues to produce and propagate corruption.  This is how it is today-because God reveals the end from the beginning!

Let’s take a closer look at the Tree of Life and find out what the good seed is that produced the Tree of Life.  We will find that the good seed is the Word of God!  God spoke it into existence.

The word of God is the ‘good seed’ that spawned the Tree of Life, which in turn produces good fruit which leads to eternal life.  Tree of life in Hebrew is ‘Aitz Chayim’ which is God’s Torah. (Proverbs 3:18)

Yeshua Himself confirms that the ‘good seed’ is the Word of God in the parable of the ‘sower and the seed’ found in Matthew 13, Mark 4, and Luke 8.  Furthermore, because Yeshua is the word made flesh (John 1:14) He is the seed itself, and also the One who sows the good seed!  (Matthew 13:37)

As for the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil.  I believe Yeshua’s parable about the “wheat and the tares” in Matthew 13 gives us deeper insight.  Yeshua says in verses 24-25, the kingdom of heaven is like a ‘man,’ a reference to God, who sowed good seed in his field, but, ‘while men slept,’ His enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and then went his way.  According to the parable of Yeshua in Matthew 13 (Who was there in the beginning - John 1:1) the adversary sowed his degenerate seed in God’s field while ‘men slept.’  This indicates they were not at their post.

In Genesis 2:15 when God told Adam to tend and keep the garden, the Hebrew word used for keep is ‘shamar’ which means ‘to guard.’  Could it be that the phrase ‘while men slept’ is a reference to Adam?  Perhaps Adam, at some point, failed to guard the garden against an adversary?  Failed to stop an intruder who wanted to ‘slither in’ and corrupt paradise by sowing ‘bad seed?’

This challenges traditional thinking, but it’s quite possible that Satan and his ‘corrupt seed’ is responsible for the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.  Peter, James and John fell asleep in another ‘garden’ and Satan (Judas Iscariot) immediately ‘slithered in’ and betrayed the Son of God.

Furthermore, Revelation 22 speaks of a ‘restored paradise’ where there is no Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in it, only the Tree of Life.

Remember that the serpent was the most ‘cunning’ of all the beasts of the field. (Genesis 3:1)  We also know that for every genuine miracle of God, Satan has a counterfeit.
