Your Diet = Your Health
by Rose Martin

In the past we didn’t know what made us sick.  We thought sickness was random and lived in fear of it striking us.  But now there is more and more evidence showing us that a major key to maintaining health is the acid/alkaline balance of the body.  A major way of keeping this balance is through the foods we eat.

Acid and illness are tied in with each other.  Everything in our bodies is a balancing act and proper proportions.  By maintaining this balance, you can have energy, mental clarity, smooth operation of all body systems, clear bright eyes and skin and a lean trim body!  You can be in control of your health!

It is our personal responsibility to promote our own health, not merely fight disease.  In order to live our lives to the fullest, and stay out of nursing homes and hospitals, it is important to know about our body, our health, so we can prevent or recover from sickness.

Although in this article we are focusing on the physical cause of acid/alkaline imbalance, emotions and stress also cause acidity in the body.  Poor diet, polluted environment, negative thoughts, spiritual distress, or destructive emotions can all play a role.  Whatever it may be, that initial physical or emotional disturbance, if not dealt with will start acidifying your body and disturbing your very cells. These issues may all be addressed in future articles, but for now…

Now let’s learn what we need to do diet-wise to make us well and keep us well!

The good news is that it is much simpler than you think!

Basically it comes down to:
Eating too much meat and other high-protein, acid ash-producing food is the problem!
And not eating fruits and vegetables in sufficient proportions to replace the neutralizing materials of your alkaline reserve compounds the problem.  Your body must deal with excessive amounts of acid metabolic residue, but the supplies it needs aren’t replaced.

Traditional dietary guidelines that tell us to eat meat, dairy and grains are not really the right balance.  Our bodies are three-fourths alkaline, yet we are told to replenish and refuel them with three-fourths acid-producing foods!  Only by modifying our diets to provide the materials our bodies need to function naturally can we reverse the trend of serious disease proliferation.

Changing Your Diet – Gradually
Changing your diet to a more healthful balance of acid ash and alkaline ash foods should be done slowly.  Quick, radical changes may lead to long-term health but short-term misery.

The rate in which you change also depends on how sick you are.  If you are fairly healthy, with only minimal signs of deficiency, like sluggishness, frequent colds, then you can go gradually with your change.  However, if you are suffering from allergies, asthma, auto immune diseases, or heart arrhythmias, then you will want to change your eating more aggressively.

The concern is, the faster you change, the sicker you will be!  Only for a little while though!
This is because when you introduce healthy foods quickly you may actually get worse before you get better once you start eating correctly and your body starts cleansing.  This phenomenon is called a ‘healing crisis.’
